Project Description

Perth WA Museum Boola Bardip

Location:  Perth Cultural Centre, Perth City

Client:  Multiplex

Com-Al Windows was engaged to design a sophisticated, expansive glazed curtainwall with dynamic gold and silver-coloured optical effects to work in unison to contrast the existing historic and heritage-listed buildings with a new contemporary design.  The bold and distinctive design was achieved with an expansive glazed façade using the Reynaers CW60 Curtain Wall Stick System

The highly insulated facade is given singular expression with a dynamic optical effect created by the Sefar gold and silver coated interstitial fabric mesh, laminated into the glass.  The fabric interlayer provides a textile appearance to the glass which creates a distinct appearance and an ability to create depth in a traditional two-dimensional glass surface.

Com-al Windows worked for just over one year on the WA Museum with at times up to 40 personnel.  The project had a very high degree of difficulty with an elevated level of risks due to working with over-sized glass panels, working at heights and complex installation detail.  The company’s our high standard of its OHS processes enabled the successful installation of the curtainwall system without any major incident.
